Hello, I have a 67 Coronet R/T. When I turn the dimmer switch to brighten the dash lights, the dash lights will go out. If I slowly turn the dimmer switch back and forth I can sometimes find a sweet spot where the dash lights will be bright enough. Would this be a problem with the dimmer switch or a voltage regulator in the dash? Thanks.

Most likely the dimmer resistor deally in headlight switch. Very common on these oldies. You could try rotating switch back and forth to clean contact somewhat.

Definitely a dimmer problem. The dash voltage regulator has nothing to do with the lights. It just reduces 12v to 5v for the gauges.

we have had good luck using the following product. Spray on and run the dimmer back and forth several times. Repeat if you'd like beer

Do the lights go out when you try to go full bright? Then usually the resistor wire is broken at that spot. If cleaning doesn't work and the wire is broken it can be soldered for a some what repair.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the dash lights go out when I try to get them to go full bright. I'll take a look at the contacts and resistor.
