This might sound bumb, but i am currently running an A&A 5600 kit with the TF2 kit. If I was to swap it out for my 5800 kit, would there be just 200rpms difference at WOT or 200-400?

My existing WOT shifts are at 57-5800 on both the 1/2 and the 2/3 shifts after numerous shift spring swaps. But I was just curious to see if it was that obvious or not.

Thanks

I would hazard a guess that the 5800 kit would bump it up 200 (if it does what it is said to do) from where it is now with your included spring alterations but wait for more knowledgeable people

Why don’t you just call A & A?

You’re both in Indiana.

Transman,

Rick rebuilt this trans about three years ago and I learned how busy he was. I bugged the crud out of him when I was testing shift springs, so I decided to leave him alone and ask on the forum.
No harm was intended towards Rick!

Thanks!!

Understood - but I’m betting Robert or the other guys answering the phone could tell you what you need to hear and they probably have real experience instead of getting guesses here.

Congratulations! I tried and tried to get the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts to happen at the same RPM. Even talked to Rick repeatedly and tried the springs, but couldn't get it. Always a split. I think it had more to do with my higher line pressure than the governor.

A&A used to be good about exchanging the governors. How much difference there will be between the 5600 and the 5800 depends on a number of factors so it may not be exactly a 200RPM increase, but should be close.

See if A&A will exchange it, stick in the new 5800 and let us know how it did.

Dave,
It took some discussions with Rick and then purchasing several springs for each of the pistons and then a lot of times removing the valve body to finally get it.

I already have both governor kits so I may just throw in the 5800 with no other changes and just see what it does.

Thanks everyone!
