I run electric fan and water pump with no alternator. The red optima is junk after only 2 1/2 years.

I had a Sears Marine battery that last 7 years in the race-car. But if you want the most Powerful battery you can get its the 16 volt Rock battery. I have not had it a year yet but its night and day better than my 16 volt Turbo Start battery.

If your red top is only 2.5 years old its still under free replacement warranty.

I've been using the Optima Yellow top as it claims to have no drop in componant performance untill it's dead. So far, I have never had my car die do to weak ignition or have any other troubles. If it starts, I'll run the #. If it doesn't I need to charge the Bat.

The one time I got caught unaware I was in the staging lanes. Car started fine the 3 or 4 times prior. Next time I go to move up, it just clicks. No slow crank or nothing. Once I got it started it ran just fine. After the pass, charged it up and not another worry.

I don't like optima's either. I run 2 interstate lead/acid batteries and have had good luck with them.

The two Optima yellow tops I bought 6 years ago are still doing the job. The Red top I bought 2 years ago is junk. I had it replaced 1 month after I bought it and not this one is garbage. I think I`ll try a Deka intimidator next.

I'm like Bigcube, I have run Interstate's for some time now and Zero issues with my race car or daily driver's, I would like to run an Optima but I am not sure I want to spend that kind of money untill the horror story's about them end.

The Optima's just aren't what they used to be, the company was bought out a couple of years back, and the quality has suffered, IMHO anyway, I still run one, but I have to get a new one about every year, and they always go bad at a inopertune time.

bonefish, That is what I am using the AGM Turbo Start charger. I called Rock batteries and they said it would work just fine and it does. If I can ever get the spare money I will get a Rock charger because it is much better. I don't sell any batteries just trying to help my fellow racers on here who have HELPED me many times.
With the 16 volt Tubro Start I could not tell any difference than with the 12 volt Sears Marine battery. With the Rock battery it turns the engine about 2 times as fast as the other two.

i ran 2 turbo starts for 3 years and now have 2 big marine 12vlt and i hate it ,once you get used to the 16vlt system going back to the 12vlt is like going from a big block to a small block(oop, i shouldnt have said that).but right now i just didnt want to spend 500.00 bucks on batts.mabey ill try just one 16vlt.
