Can anyone tell me, in the trunk of a 69 to 70 B Body, can the dropoff- the trunk floor piece that goes from the trunk floor across and down inside the lower quarter panel, can it be changed with the quarter panel in place?
I'd like to find out before I start cutting-- and maybe avoid a bad surprise!
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks, Paul

The tough part will be getting a cutter in there to remove the spot welds. The answer is "yes" it could be done but it will be one hell of a job !! If you are going to tackle it I'd suggest cutting most of it out from inside the trunk and then you can get at most of the spot welds from inside. The tough ones will be where it joins the trunk panel. Those could be tackled with a die grinder or something like that. Good luck !

Drill the spot welds that are easy to get to. When you get to the trunk to drop offs, cut it flush to where it meets the floor and use a grinder to remove whats left to the trunk... you can just grind where the spot welds are, just take your time so you don't grind through the trunk floor too. Even with the quarter removed, this way is easier than drilling out the spot welds.

For the hard to reach areas, I really like a Dremel tool, with the small reinforced cutting wheels.
And, patience.
