I ordered the bracket for use with blanket. I don't see this aligning. The back of the bracket contacts the transmission before coming close to the holes aligning. Can someone post a pic of theirs to hopefully make me feel stupid or validate my suspensions that I have a wrong/bad bracket? I contacted PPP, but no response via email or phone. Thanks!!!

My shifter is about 5 years old. Same issue. Modified the bracket to fit. If you call them and them and they answer, buy a lot of lottery ticket cause its your lucky day. Great shifter but its a small company and they haven't figured out the customer service issue. If they do, they answer, all Q's are answered.

Like every eff'n thing in this sport, you have to modify it. Nothing ever fits. I cut mine and had a friend weld it so I could run rear entry on my Duster....I ground the $hit out of too. fits much better now. Took me a few hours to figure out what to do, but I am glad I did it the way I did. I can take pics tomorrow.

I’ve got that bracket.... it’s in my scrap bucket. I made one that mounts to the rear ear of the torqueflight.
That also allows me to drop the pan without messing with the shifter. Also allows for strap from blanket or CSR shield to fit under cable.

All of this shifter crap has been a joke for a long time. It will make you a better builder. The ratio is ultra important on these cable shifters for ultimate reliability. The distance from the cable mount to the shift lever has to be perfect.

It was designed for a stamp steel pan not a thick cast pan. So modifying is in order. Not a big thing. I just did one a week ago for a customer and it only took about 20 min to do.

If I could figure out, or take the time to, post picts from my iPad I’d put em up! I actually used the ppp bracket as a template for where mine needed to be.... just using the handy rear ear on the trans. As big as pos the Turbo Action shifter was, at least they got the cable mounting point right!

I was fortunate to buy my clean N PPP used..... but after having it in the car a couple years I’ve really realized what a deal I got. It’s a great shifter!

I butchered up the bracket so I can get an idea of where the cable needs to land, and called PPP and left another message. Not sure if I want to dork around with this or order a different shifter. I'm spending way too much time on a stupid shifter. In addition, I don't know how I can return something to company that doesn't answer their phone. I might dispute the charge on my card and wait for him to call me.

Even after my hacking, the bolt holes on the pan don't align. I hope the shifter is nice, but this piece is junk:

They are hands down the best shifter.... I regret having sold my second one. At the time I didn’t need it, but I do now.

For being "the best shifter", they sure need a lot of tweaking to use one.

I just got done taking one apart and rubbing on some internal parts just to get the button on top to move......haven't gotten to the mounting bracket yet. (new build)

they are a nice looking version of the oem slap-stick's used in the early 70's

I'll stick to my working bulky, fugly, dummy-proof winter's style.

Turbo Action shifters are the best if you get the correct gate.
No way you'll go 1-3 on the shift.
Only reason I bought the PPP shifter is for the clean neutral option.
PPP shifters go 1-3 alot easier.

Yes, it is. and in 35 plus years in 3 different cars (normal seating position to tube frame seating), I've never went from 1 to 3. .....a shifter can only do so much for a lack of muscle control.

Knowing many who use the winters/turbo-action shifters, the only place they're "famous for the 1-3 shift" is here on the internet.

I have a clean neutral VB also with a winters(I assume T/A would work the same).....use the forward shift pattern plates.

Winters is the perfect shifter...if you're doing a period correct restoration of an old race car from the 70s.

You can always tell when the guy beside you has a Winters when you hear the *clunk ca-clunk clunk" when he takes it out or puts it in park.


If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

So now there's a fashion factor in racing?.....and here I thought function was more important that the latest cool looking, clunk-free shifting accessory.

PPP shifters aren't exactly new-tech, they're actually a little older design than the winters style. So, if you're looking for new look, oem function to replace your E or B-body slap-stick, PPP is the shifter for you.

1-2 was straight back on my T/A. It would literally make the 1-2 shift on its own at times when I’d launch. It relied SOLELY on the rooster comb on the valve body as a detent.

1-3.... as long as you “hit” the shifter on the 1-2 it would work, but if you were not versed on that it was easily pulled through 2 down to 3.

I had both gates for my TA and used it a bit with my clean N brake before the PPP came along.

I too followed J-bodys lead for a Cable Mount and used the ear and made a new
One. Mine is a 904
