Rear 10" Brake Drums for a 1970 Challenger R/T with a Dana. SPD June 10th 1970. Has anyone seen Black paint on rear 10" brake drums just like the red was painted on from the factory. It is only on the face of drum.
Bob

That drum is not painted just like the red ones. The entire mounting flange is painted black.

When the red was brushed on it was sloppily done and didn’t go inboard of the wheel studs and not on outer ring of the drum. Factory jjust painted the flat are that would be seen through the wheel

These drum we see on here that are completely painted red are way wrong.

I’ve never seen black painted drums on mopars. Original grandma unmolested cars, etc.

Check this out, 1970 Challenger untouched with 64000 miles on it. You can see the red painted drum with green studs.
Thanks Bob

Yes and you can see where they painted it with a brush and no paint inboard of the wheel studs.
Zero paint on the outside of the drum either. Just the face.
