Thanks for the info, Stumpy. I kind of thought that's what it was for. It's in two pieces and was "hanging" onto the valve body when I removed it. I guess that wouldn't stop it from doing it's job, though. I need to order new bands (from Makco Transmissions?), then be about ready to clean and put her back together. Dave

I just read something the other day on a thread on the right (type) but for the life of me I cant remember what it said. dont order until you find out for sure.
