I have a 1971 cuda 340, 4spd that is an original California car. I am restoring the transmission and in the side cover is a switch that is activated when the car is put into fourth gear. I assume to meet the CA emissions at the time it retarded the timing in 4th gear only. The male lead is broken off of the switch and I'd like to find a replacement. The reference picture is of a unmolested trans in another car. The 70-71 parts book has a picture of it but the referenced part number leads to a two prong backup light switch. Any help in finding the switch is appreciated.

I found this switch that was used on GM 4spd cars around the same year but the thread diameter is to small to work.

Is this a late build car?

You might have to use the two pin and then run a ground wire to one of the pins.

I might have an original. Can you carefully degrease/clean the one in your picture and retake the picture both connected and disconnected?

Scott, here are a few of the original switch with the broken connector. There are some numbers stamped into it, I believe from the manufacture.

That's the part that is broken off.

He is asking for the wire end terminal. Not switch terminal. Learn something new. I have seen that boss on the side plates, but never seen a California Transmission with the switch.

Is it part number 3438472? That's the NOX switch number.
