Seems odd that the obvious safety issue of stock axles in a spool is not a concern, but green brg strength is. Assuming it's drifting or dirt racing, How would either make any more side load? Theres LESS side load in a skid, than there is when there is traction going around a corner. In any case, if greens aren't goign to cut it in your world, then throw a chunk of old axle or round stock in there as a spacer, and trim up the axle ends if you have too. OR just weld up the side gears in a stocker then you still have the thrust block. Without aftermarket axles, it's all just a crap shoot whether it will live anyway, so fill your boots

Sounds like he is building a demolition derby car.
Take the 1.5" long thrust block out of a stock differential, and slip it inside the spool before you install the axles.
I just looked at his screen name....LOL

gotcha.. so even if i use a piece of round stock wadded up with tape so it fits snug? How wide should i go? how much end play should i have? how much gap between the spacer and the axel end should i have? Keep in mind im building this for extreme laterial loads and shock...
thanks again
It needs to FLOAT , the stock thrust block float .

haha why do you think i should use longer axles ?
what is the purpose of axle adjustment and spacer? will the axle walk out or in?
thanks again guys
the purpose is to keep the bearing in the cone and basicly preloads , though there is side to side movement, the bearing .
It's a demo car , weld the spiders or use greens , you are running on dirt , no big deal and if the bearing breaks so what ?

Your car is crippled and you lose? I think thats the reason for not wanting your bearing to break.
