Not from a charger. I believe that all chargers were made in St. Louis..

How do you guys know, from a partial VIN like this, which model it came out of. I could never figure that out.

Thanks

Hamtramck assigned VINs in model groups.

A lady posted the VIN in another forum a few days ago so I told her what it came out of over there.

It is from a Challenger R/T, but unless the car or a record of the full VIN surfaces, no way to know if hardtop, SE or convertible.

do you have a picture of the "MN426" stamp on the bottom of the block near where the starter mounts

Sure does look like another set of numbers under those. Gee I wonder who's shop that block went through????? After one well known engine builder/restorer told me he just mills down the original #'s and restamps the block, I am very skeptical of any numbers anymore. It's a real shame. That ruins the originality of a block and possibly takes someone's real original engine away from them. That's my opinion.

Really looks fishy with other numbers under the "new" numbers. I wonder what happened. Original car stolen and new numbers put on it so it could not be traced? Otherwise why would "new" numbers engine NOT be with that vin number car? Lots of questions here for sure...
