Thinking of changing my intake this season for better top end over my Performer RPM dual plane.
My new cam is a Howard's solid 616/620 260/264* 108 lobe sep.
493 RB Indy EZ standard port mild port flow 315 at 600 lift
10.9 compression
QF 1050 cfm 4150 carb.
4.10 gears 30" ET drags
Looking to get into the 10.50 index at some local events and right now I'm at 10.91 124.8 with a 3.54 gear

I'm looking at a Torker or the X-celerator
Don't want to spend $300 on an intake I might not like and if one of those can get it done for under $200 that would be great.

Thanks up

35 yrs ago My tech school instructor (mopar fanatic) said the torkers had mixture distribution problems (FWIW) tho I had never heard of that before or since & many people use em. On your Q (not an expert on this) but I would see what the port dimentions are & I would think go with the largest one for the most top end flow.

have you looked at the old intake manifold comparison from Hot Rod ?
Still got a flat hood ? I know my old M1 single plane just fitted under stock 68 hood - with one of those old triangle foam filters .
Maybe look for a Holley SD intake ? Victor would be best , $? .
Not sure if they are worth 4/10s , though the extra gear should help

When I built this engine about 5 years ago I had an M-1 intake and Dominator carb and it wouldn't fit under my flat hood with a regular drop base air filter. So I sold that and bought a new Performer RPM intake and 4150 carb and that deal fit under my hood.

Do I think the new cam and that Weiand intake will take you from 10.90’s to 10.50’s with 3.54 gears?

No.

I think you’re gonna find that 4 tenths is gonna cost you some streetability...... or put a 75-100hp shot on it.

I figured the 4.10 gears might help the 60 foot a little bit and then I can tune the clutch a little better from there and the single plane would help at the stripe shruggy
I guess you're the expert though that's why I'm posting the thread here.
Thanks

Expert?
Eh...... I never think of myself that way.

I’m pretty good at outlining a combo to get someone in the ballpark of where they want to be with the full bodied car stuff.
Your car running 10.90’s with the previous combo and 3.54 gears was working well IMO.
At this point, without making serious changes, and going about it by tweaking things...... you’re pretty much at the “try it and see what happens” stage.
Unless you try something that’s really out of sync with the rest of the package......... there isn’t likely going to be any cut and dried answers as to which parts will do what.
It’s going to require some experimentation on your part.

It’s generally easier to improve poor performing combos than good ones.
