Looks like one of the newer (old NOS) replacements.

Check the back side for a factory sound deadener spray pattern.

Are you sure that is a `71? Lets see a picture of the front end. Paul

It's a replacement as Barry said. Never a production line part in 71, every 70-71 NOS example I've seen has that feature (odd as it may seem).

FWIW, my '72's original fender didn't have that contour either, it was flat with the keyway.

I sold an NOS "70" Duster fender years ago and it had the depressed indent for the antenna mount. Many years ago at the Mopar Nationals I saw an NOS Duster fender in factory gray primer w/correct part # and it had the the normal body curve for the antenna. The one I sold was also red oxide like the one on the ebay auction.

Yes, I'm sure some were made with the production line hole but it must have been for a short time in limited numbers because they are rare as hens teeth. I've been on the lookout for an example for 20 years and still have yet to see one for sale. The style in red primer with the bumper have been pretty easy to find for many years.

I had a 68 Dart NOS fender with the correct inked on part number with this same sunken antenna hole. My fender was really wacky since they also mounted the front headlight bucket area about 1" too far forward. There was a visible gap on the inner fender area.
My body guy had to fix that and he grafted on the correct antenna base plate.
