I’m looking for product recommendations for a 727 Transbrake valve body. The car is a ‘70 Dart, low eleven second, Pro class bracket racer.
I’ve found ATI with an A and A brake from them for $750. TCI from Jegs for about $850 and the new Turboaction XA model for $900 from Summit. I don’t think Turbo makes the older version any longer.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I also plan to go with some kind of adjustable button like the Just-n-time or a Biondo

Thanks guys

Jeff

Tranzact of Indy makes the TCI brake...I have 5 of transbrakes from Tranzact in use with the oldest one dating back to 1993. Just bought the 5th one a few months ago and talking with Joe he said if I needed it now it was going to say TCI on it cause he was producing a batch for,

Tony I presume your 1993 is an external brake like mine? I talked to Joe a month or so back and he laughed and said we need to get that updated.

Just a side note to the OP, notice the three companies being discussed used are all Indiana trans builders.

NO...it is an internal brake...just it is cast aluminum instead of the newer billet ones. It is currently in a 904 behind a 408. We had a problem with the trans a few years back and I wondered if it was the brake..and called Joe. He said the warranty had expired.LOL..but it was not the transbrake.

I would say more importantly that I know that Cope and Trazact are a phone call away with any questions you might have or more importantly, changes to the trans that may benefit the use of the brake.

FWIW I use a Pro Trans trans brake. They build them in house and Dave and Darren have been good to me. They were fairly local to me, but unfortunately they’ve pulled up stakes from commiefornia and are currently relocating to Texas.

That CRT looks super nice. Can I change out the low/reverse servo in car?

The L/R servo “can” be serviced in the car. Requires removing the keeper tab from the tail shaft (cutting) to allow the pin to slide out far enough to remove the linkage for the band. You then can get creative with a bottle jack and large socket to get the piston compressed enough to remove the snap ring and allow piston removal. Be aware that you’ll have to have patients to get the band linkage back in place. Way easier on a bench, than under the car for sure. You can make a tab for the cross pin and secure it with one of the tail shaft bolts.

The trans was done 100 passes ago street/strip build with Turboaction reverse manual valve body and works great no issues. Would it be sudden death if I put the Transbrake on it without the new servo?

I would consult the person you’re buying the t-brake from. Another “factor” I’d strongly consider is plugging the front vent and relocating it to the rear. This will obviously require trans removal.

Easier than that, simply back off the adjuster and the band link can be removed allowing the lever to drop free.

Thanks for the clarification John.... I was thinking the linkage had to be removed for the servo to clear.
