I have a 93 Ramcharger 2wd with a 5.9 magnum in it
motor is shot got hot. I have a good 98 5.2 magnum
will the 5.9 computer run the 5.2 or do I need a 5.2 comp?
I will use the 5.9 intake on the 5.2
wiring from 98-93 is different
main concern is do I need 5.2 comp.
will it run to rich w 5.9 comp?
what issues will I have?
thanks for any info

This is a easy swap. As easy as it gets

Drivers side motor mount bracket is different 5.9 to 5.2

5.9 computer will run the 5.2, just need to be careful of what injectors you use. Flow rates in 93 for the 5.9 were 24 @ 39 psi, rates for the 5.2 were about 19 @39 psi and the latter should be your target. The Ford 19 lb/hr "yellow tops" worked well with my 5.2, but you may need to drop down a little.

The 93 5.9 ECM is very desirable and rare so dont mess it up

The 92-93 5.2 ECMs are very easy to find, though had capacitors fail causing a no start below 50 or so- still easy to fix

I still would keep a 5.9 in it- the 1998-2003 5.9 had a better cam and makes a diff compared to the 5.2- but if you have a cheap 5.2, nothing wrong with that

What makes the 93 5.9 ECM special? What is different then the other OBD1 ECM's?

93 was only year for that particular ECM . The 94 and 95 obd 1 will run the engine but it drags and destroys fuel mileage.

valve covers and throttle bodies are the same between 5.2 and 5.9 as long as they are magnums
