G32 G34 also. Did they get painted with the car body? Did they paint some of all colors ahead of time so they were ready to install? Did they get painted as needed by broadcast sheet, just like interior builds?

They did not get painted on the car because the base gaskets were not painted and the door has paint under the mirror base.

Similar scenario with the red Shaker bubbles & Elastomeric bumpers or ?

They did have pre-painted 1971 Cuda grilles for the car colors they were available with.

I wonder if the supplier painted them. Or maybe they were hanging in or on the car?

E body painted mirrors are painted off the car. IIRC the passenger mirror is painted with the two parts together and the drivers is painted with the two parts separate.

Rubber bumpers for E bodies were painted off the car

This was always my assumption. Take the 72-74 Challenger tail light assemblies for example. I doubt the factory paint shop had time to mask the recessed tail light openings before they sprayed the argent. My guess is the tail light housings arrived at the factory as complete assemblies.(already painted and lenses installed) All the factory had to do was spray the argent on the tail panel.

Look at modern car bumper covers. Most do not exactly match the body color. They are painted by the manufacture and shipped to the factory as an assembly. twocents
