Winter time/wiring time. I want a better system than tape and a sharpie. Anyone have a label maker that might survive an engine compartment? I would check out a company like Leach Electronics to see if they offer something

The label makers that print on heat shrink tube.
Ive had a Brady tube printer for about ten years. It works well, but it’s a slow process to print and shrink. Its nice when done.
Dymo and others also make them
I have read that you can use the Dymo heat shrink tube cartridges in their cheaper printers.

Race car? Unless it's really complex, I just use a large selection of wire colors to organize the system and it's different tangents. If it's one of those deals where there are 3 wire colors used than yes, labels will be helpful. And I like the self-printed labels under clear shrink idea. Plan before you start stringing wires.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Mine is a Rhino 4200. I like it. There are many different sizes available. www.labelcity.com is one of the places to buy them. Get plenty of heat shrink tubes also.

No, it just prints an adhesive strip label that I wrap around the wire or bundle.

I have and use a Dymo label makes and their heat shrink to label all my wiring.
