I know it isn't what you are specifically asking about, but with the selection of 15" tires thinning, how about the 17"? rallye style wheels being sold by year 1?
Kind of spendy, but looks to me that the wider ones would sure fill that big wheel opening nicely ... and would kind of carry on the "original" look.
It takes gasoline to interest me.

Those cars can use a lot of tire. 245X60X15 front and 275X60X15 rear for sure. I would mount them on Torq Thrust if it was mine. A friend has a 71 Super Bee with 15X8 front and back and they fit, sorry I don't have photos.
