Just like when you drill to tube a lifter galley you probably could of drilled and tapped and ran two big plugs back to back in the front for your fix or part of it.

BUT many will agree that a small block mopar really needs little oil mods to live, I run over 13:1 on spray and at times 7600 rpm shift points with next to no mods.

If you look at an X or R block the areas your trying to hog out are only just marginally bigger then a early 70s block and they run dirt/oval track at 8k.

I think your trying to hard. But props for trying.

I've fixed the 360s oil system, but I don't know what to say after watching that. I knew there would be trouble 30 seconds in when he was plugging the feed passage from the galley to #1 main. I don't believe I would video wrecking a block and then put it on YouTube. But that's just me.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

LOL I have no idea what he was doing either. Like you said...why block the passenger side main feed and then bring oil in from the cross over?

Just nuts.

I believe he was doing some of Sanborns oiling mods that are in a sticky at the top of the page: go to www.moparchat.com then scroll down to & click on "circle track chat". It is a long read but has some excellent info as does his "cooling mods" that are also in a sticky.

Is Charles even still alive? Hes seen and done alot, some ive tried some id never try.

I think OP-s is or was just trying to build a turbo street motor or something that would live with zero mods imo.

He saw someone drilling, tapping and plugging holes on a video or some pictures somewhere and decided to do it himself. Fine, except you have to know how the system originally works, what each passage does, what feeds what, why the bearings get knocked out of it, what to plug, restrict, open up, reroute, and why.

You obviously didn’t watch the video or understand how I was trying to save the block after messing it up.

When drilling the #1 I hit the water passage.
By set screwing the main saddle and pushing the gallery plug deeper I would have been
able to use the factory passage to feed the main and rod bearings.
It was drilled to 5/16” successfully.

The crossover tube would have had to be installed to feed the tappets, oil through head to rocker shafts, and supposedly slow the oil flow to #4 to prevent starvation to the rod bearings . (this is subjective in my thinking)

You think this is sketchy?

Well, I’m pondering putting LA heads on a magnum like this. lol
I’ll have to use 3 crossover tubes for this setup.

Here is a book I just dug out with crossover info.

Doing this stuff is fun to me whether it’s required for my application or not.

An update on my 74' block and trying to salvage it.
I sure learned a lot during this process.

Now I'm going to practice on a 318 rusted and crusted block before going back to any that I plan to put in service.

I drilled my angled passages out (dont remember what to, it was what Sanborn posted) & just CAREFULLY went in the OE holes very slowly with a variable speed drill/bit/no jig & had a helper feed lube on the bit being very carefull not to even go a hair sideways as their big caveat (when I read the procedure being tried by someone that posted) was that if the bit breaks off in there it likely is a trashed block. thank you for the heads up on the thick/thin "sides" on the center (3) bulkheads & the "jig". Sharpen the bit on a drill doctor before doing each hole.

Little update, some practice, few family clips for intermission, and the final product
on a 360 block.
Last machine work was done in mid 90s by Accurate Engine which is now out of business.
Surprised it was already drilled.

My 1/2" setup. Heavy but I will make my racing partner drop a few lbs to make up for it!. On a side note for more info a person could go to the small block section at FABO, it is a long read but it is as comprehensive as you could ever ask for on this subject.
