I know these are prone to cracking but do they break into 2 pieces? My pass side manifold will probably be in 2 pieces after a couple more heating/cooling cycles, cracking just forward of the 'y', about where the '2' in the part number is cast. I knew it was cracked to the 'out' side, but then the crack continued to develop and it cooked the valve cover gasket and caused it to leak, a lot.

Frank , I have one that is cracked right in the middle , but didn't crack the flange area , it was packed poorly so I assumed it was broken in shipment by united parcel smashers .

The manifold was cracked when I bought the car and would leak until it heated up. Since this past fall it has been using/leaking more oil and I notice the crack has spread around the bottom and up the inside to where it baked the valve cover gasket, hence the oil leak. Now there is only less than 3/4" left across the top before it is actually a 2-piece assembly. A wad of aluminum foil has done a good job of protecting the new gasket. I just can't take the hood off until I fix it right.

Replace it , check the one you put on first to make sure it's flat across the gasket surface, I haven't found a well seasoned one yet that was. I have all my manifolds planed before use so I'm not bending them tightening them down . The bad is depending on the machine used you will probably need to remove the heat riser assembly .
