I'm leaving in the morning to take a 512 C.I. pump gas motor to a DTS dyno in Chico, CA. We will dyno test and tune it on Saturday and then let the new owner take it home and play with it Hopefully it will either scare the heck out of him or addict to more power It is a 1968 HP2 block bored and honed to 4.380 with a torque plate, 4.250 stroke with a set of Eagle 6.86 long Hemi rods with L19 bolts. the pistons are a custom set of Diamonds with a reverse dome with -24 CC dome volume for 9.9 to 1 compression ratio. A set of non ported Eddy RPM heads and a Eddy RPM intake with a Holley 850 D.P.. Comp Cams 292H hydraulic cam and lifters with a set of Crane 1.5 roller tip extruded aluminum rocker arms which give it right at .514 net lift on the intake and exhaust. The duration at .050 is 244 on both with the same lobe lift on both lobes, it is ground on a 110 LSA and installed at 109 intake lobe center. Nothing exotic or special, just a good old pump gas motor I'm hoping to be back on Saturday night and I'll post some results then or Sunday morning. No rewards for the closest guess but give me your opinions anyways

Chino from Bend is a pretty healthy drive.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Yeah I wouldn't head to Chico with the Camp fire still burning. From what I read on the news all of the local hotels are full for miles around since so many homes have burned down. Plus, the air quality has to be zero with all the smoke blowing right into town. Agreed. I'm working in Chico trying to help those affected by the fires. It's a mess. I travel almost an hr ea day to get there. Trying to find housing for people has been a challenge. Many are having to be house in Sacramento, Redding and further away.

I arrived in Chico Friday afternoon around 1.30 PM, the air quality in Chico was worse than I ever saw in L.A. going back the early 1960s up to when we moved out of CA in 2005, even when SO CA was having fires. The motor didn't make as much power as I expected but do they ever We loaded the motor on the dyno and I bought ten gallons of local fuel for testing. We waited for the owner to arrive on Saturday morning before starting the motor and testing. It did make a lot more torque than HP but that seems to be normal on Wedge motors with less than 10.5 to 1 compression ratio, it made 619.6 Ft Lbs. at 3000 RPM and 443 Ft. Lbs. at 6000 RPM. Peak torque was 643 Ft. Lbs. from 3800 RPM to 4100 RPM so it should put the driver back in the seat pretty well any time he goes to WOT HP was 354 at 3000 RPM and peaked at 552 at 5100 RPM with 506 at 6000 RPM. We did pull it up to 6500 RPM but it was done down lower so we stopped at 6000 RPM after that. We tested timing and a did a little bit of jetting and tried two different spark plug brands and heat ranges and a two inch reversion spacer as well as a bigger exhaust system. It responded well to all the changes, we found out what it liked and didn't like I told the owner the finish tune up needs to be done in the car with him driving it the way he likes drives on the pump gas he uses with the exhaust system hooked up with the hood closed in his town. It has a oil leak around the back of the motor so I brought it back home to fix it and determine exactly where the stupid leak is, this is the third motor that I've had this problem with I'll post what I find on the leak once I find out exactly where it is leaking from It looks like it is leaking around the rear main seal holder but there is no oil on the back of the crankshaft flange being slung off Dang Murphy anyways If we don't get tested now and then we will never get any better, will we I think the combination of the low compression ratio with aluminum heads and the little camshaft along with the small 3.0 inch collector on the headers I used made the motor do what it did All my new motors from now on will have bigger set of headers and bigger camshafts to make more power on the dyno and in the cars I won't blame the bad air for any of the bad results as it was clearing up on Saturday some The real proof will be when the owner calls me after putting it in his car and drives it

Just FYI we ran our 512 Dart at Sonoma Raceway Weds Night with extremely smoky condition and the car ran the same MPH and et it did the week before. I appreciate you sharing that with me The DTS dyno show a correction factor based on the current weather conditions, it was below sea level in the morning when we started testing and it had a small correction factor later when the humidity went up to 40% . The barometer was reading 29.02 in the morning and dropped down to 29.82 around noon, I don't remember how much the humidity was in the morning though One of the guys that work at that shop was trying to bring his own car in to work on it in the morning and had a hard time due the police blocking off the offramp that needed to get there due to our President Trump visiting the area, that man never seems to stop doing things to serve our country Good or bad, depending on your opinion We desperately need more public servants, not more POLITICIANS

I'm gonna go out on a limb with a wild guess. Sounds like it's a good looking engine, and probably loud. So..... I'm gonna guess 552ish horsepower and around 643 foot pounds of torque....
