499" RB, ported Eddies, hyd cam about 240*, mostly street, 69 Charger, 3.55 gears, 727.
I am pulling the big solid cam and big open intake off this engine and want to mild it up a bit and install it in a more driver friendly combo. I would prefer to run a Dominator, but am open to a big 4150.
A 337 would be nice, but............
What intake would you recommend for a mostly street driven car. And it would be nice if it would fit under the hood with a drop base air cleaner and maybe even lowering the K.
Thanks

Does "ported Eddies" mean MW-sized Performer RPMs? Or are they still standard port (in which case a '337 wouldn't work)? OP, if your using CNC ported Eddy RPM with the stock size 440 intake gaskets I would and do use the Eddy Performer RPM intake on a lot of builds like yours with those heads along with a 950 or 1000 HP Holley 4150 carbs As far as the drop base air cleaner clearing your hood I'm thinking they will

Can you still buy a 337 ? I think it's to the point where it's only if somebody who has one already is willing to sell it.

Modern CNCed them a few years ago. They are bigger than stock, but not really MW.

I am a bit surprised at the dual plane recommendations for a 499" engine. I would have thought that a DP would be a "cork" in the intake of an engine that big.
But it's not???????

Anyone know off hand which is shorter; the Indy 2d or the Eddy RPM? I'm thinking that height will be an issue getting it all under the hood.

For me, the gears and converter would guide my choices.

Okay, tight converter. Well, as tight as your going to get with a 499" big block and 3.55 or 3.23 gears.
I have had PTC and Ultimate Converters build me as tight a street converter as they can for my 540 Hemi. Ultimate's converter will flash to 4,200 and the best PTC could do was north of 4,500. And that is with 3.91s. Not exactly what I call tight, but was all they said they could do with the cores available.
The Ultimate does feel tighter and the car feels more responsive down low. Just better for driving around town and cruising.

But it's not??????? You're the one who said you wanted to tame it down. If you don't want to lose the power, maybe you should leave it as it is. It's tough to have it both ways.

If you want less stall, you just need to use a bigger converter.
I’d be pretty surprised if a factory 12” converter stalled over 4K behind that motor.
