I'm about to start working on my Super Bee to have it ready to go for spring of 2019. One of the first needs is a driveshaft. I plan on changing the Super Stock springs out for a pair of mono-leafs before it hits the road again. My question is, should I wait until I change the springs before I order the driveshaft? I had never thought about it, but someone mentioned to me that I should wait to install the springs before I order.

I would for sure wait until the springs are in.

If you order the springs with the same front segment measurement you don't have to do springs first. Are you going with caltracs?

My thought is Caltrac springs and Assassin Bars.

Personally I would wait but I use driveline service in Pittsburgh and if I call today I usually pick up my driveshaft tomorrow. I had one shortened once and picked it up the same day

Cal trac mono's and assassin bars? Why the mismatch? Why not the whole shebang from Cal trac? Just curious. I ordered mine as a package, got free shipping and a discount, and it all works together. http://4secondsflat.com/CalTracs.htmlYa' I see now. The assassin bars look like a better build, more adjust ability.

Adjustability is what I was interested in. But I want the lighter spring than the heavy Super Stocks I have now.

The wider range of adjustability is great, if you know how the various changes affect the way the car works. Otherwise, simpler is better and reduces the risk of getting lost in the process of getting the suspension dialed in. Good point. I still like the Smith Racecraft bars better.

Absolutely as fast as I can get out of it. I have handicaps involved(heavy, clutch, 3.54 gear), but I'd like to hit 11.00's, then upgrade the top end of the engine.

I don't have a number in front of me, but the weight is significant, from what I understand. I'm sure someone here knows.

The Split Mono springs are roughly 52lbs per pair, which is about what one SS spring weighs.

The Split Mono springs are roughly 52lbs per pair, which is about what one SS spring weighs. About half the weight. I'm surprised. Thanks for the info.

Absolutely as fast as I can get out of it. I have handicaps involved(heavy, clutch, 3.54 gear), but I'd like to hit 11.00's, then upgrade the top end of the engine. The fact that it's a stick car means the clutch type & setup is another variable into the whole track-tuning process. You're not taking the easy route, that's for sure. BTW, my first Mopar was a '69 Super Bee 383 4-speed car. Wow, that was a loooooooooooooong time ago.

I'd wait until you have the springs installed and measure to be sure.
