Mine broke just as my car broke into the 10s. I was lucky and caught it as it got noisey but it had a broken tooth laying in the bottom of the housing when I did. Granted it was an old gear set with lots of miles and passes but I need reliability so I immediately started down the Dana Path, and it has been working great.

For all those that call the modifications “band-aids”; the 9” units that most run are not stock Ford units, they’re full of aftermarket stuff also. For that matter, most Dana’s in this conversations are likely S60’s outfitted with Spools, aluminum covers, and aftermarket axles. But once you've done those modifications to a Dana or a 9", you have a nearly bulletproof rearend. Do whatever you want to an 8.75 and you're gonna still kill ring and pinions.

Been running the Dr Diff unit for 2+ years and it is awesome imo and a bit heavier but beefier with forged caps and stout adjusters.........of course my stock unit lasted 16+ years........... Come on Dom, we all know you go to the track for a couple passes like once every 2 years. Beating on it on the street will never duplicate the traction/stress it will see at the track. Lots of weak parts can live a long life w/ no traction. Thank you! but Jay I know for a fact Thumper has put twice as many passes on his car this year Then you did.. I think you're just jealous because his 727 trans. Actually stays together for an entire pass..

I didn’t miss a round of racing that year due to the many issues I had! Who the L breaks a pump gear?!?! ....and I don’t think he has 8 passes on it Keep piling it on brother... I’m trying to care about it again!! ....and now that the 727 from L is healthy, I pulled it for a 904 :j

I recently put a 9” in my Duster. Fab housing I built notched for shocks, thru bolt 3.25” case and axles and what not from Cass. I probably have 16/1700 in it including the $75 disc brake kit from Summits clearance shelf. Stating the obvious, those needed pictured notches are brutally counterproductive to original point of adding a back brace. Other then that, it is pretty.
