Does anyone know a good source to track down the production numbers on 1979 Dodge Power Wagon? Read somewhere in a Mopar mag that only about 500 or so were made that year, far fewer than LRE's, which were about 5,000+.

The serial/VIN number is W13JF9S221750, and it is equipped with the following:

360 ci motor, 727 trans, Dana 44 front axle, Dana 60 rear axle, w/ 5 0n 5.5 bolt patterns, 6 ft.utiline bed, a/c, power steering, power front disc brakes, drum rear brakes, warn lockout hubs, 3.23 limited slip rear, currently in black epoxy primer ready for new medium canyon red paint, quad headlights, factory chrome mirrors, rechromed grill and headlight bezels and badging, Ramcharger bucket seats and console, reupholstered in black cloth. I purchased the truck in October 1998 with 124K miles, and I've put about 10K since owned. Engine was bored .030, and cammed with a crane mid-range cam, added air gap four barrel intake with Edelbrock carb. It was converted from full-time four wheel drive into part-time four wheel drive before I got it, but I added the Dana 60 rear, because the truck had two bolt patterns since it had the original rear end then. Also has Adventurer badging on dash. Missing fender tag though.

I appreciate any help, glad to be on the forum.

I will register my '79 as a classic truck in Texas when done. Thanks, RFish

79 was an interesting model year for the Dodge truck division. 1978 was the last year trucks over 1/2 ton got the free pass for meeting emission standards. As such, Dodge (and other makes) produced a lot of heavy duty 1/2 ton trucks, and the production schedule was stretched out a bit. 1978 trucks were produced from Aug/Sept of 1977 through about the end of Dec, 1978. The 1979 model year trucks didn't begin until Jan 1979. All the Dodge 79 truck numbers were low.
I had a friend that wanted to order a new 79 when the model year changed, and that was the line the dealer gave him. His 79 truck had a production date just after Jan 1 and was a pretty low number. Gene

500 doesn't seem a realistic number. And you can't believe everything you read.

The GG book is not full of this info, but the W13 should be stepside/utiline and may be in the low production. Had a W13JF9 Warlock II myself for over 6 years, and did not see many around at all. The W1 power wagons were a higher number for sure.

Thanks guys, your comments reaffirm what I've found over the years, not much info even from the experts like GG. Thanks

They didn't really keep track of the production number of the trucks. LRE was the only one they really kept track of.
Shortbeds were 6'6"

I would like to know the production #’s of my ‘80 Macho Power Wagon LWB but I’ve come up with no numbers so I am thinking it’s 1 of 2, mine & the Simon & Simon show truck.

1967 Barracuda Formula S 383
1967 Chevy C10 Short Stepper
1980 Macho Power Wagon LWB 318
