I currently have the MP +1 qt plain steel pan w/ a billet filter extension and need to pull the pan & valve body. This would be a good time to upgrade the pan, if I'm going to do it.
What's the best buy / value in a cast aluminum 727 pan? I don't necessarily mean cheapest, since quality of the casting, hardware, etc., factor into this, too. Example: Which ones come w/ a nice matching filter extension, vs. something like the cheesy stamped-steel part I replaced w/ my MP pan?
Is there much benefit by stepping all the way up to a +4 qt model, or is the generic +2 qt sufficient? I always run synthetic ATF and have an external cooler, too.
Thanks - Brad

I used the Mopar Performance cast aluminum deep pan on my 518 (fits a 727 too) and it has a drain plug as well as the threaded bung for a temp sensor. Bought it off of a member year.
I think Summit sells a branded one just like it only significantly cheaper in price.

No question the finned cast aluminum deep pan is the way to go. Better fluid cooling and a great way to stiffen up the case. I purchased a no name cast finned pan on Ebay for less than 100 bucks. That's what my trans builder got for me. Looks just like the TCI piece, but has no name cast into it.

Brad I am with Andy on the Moroso sheet metal pan it is light, good pan rail, and nice quality. Be aware that some of the cast pans would be lighter if they were made of lead and just stupid heavy for what they do.

We use the deep B&M cast pan, seals good and has a port for a temp. gauge. Has the filter ext. and no scrapes in normal driving.
figured the extra fluid will never hurt....
Joe same here nice piece for the money.

I use the B&M pan also. Nice piece for the money and seems to help keep my 727 cool. I’m pretty sure I added weight to the car though.... aluminum? Yes. Lighter than stock steel pan? NO!

Never had a problem w/ the trans pan hitting the ground. Oil pan and headers, yes.

Junk yard stock 518 pan with A&A filter extension. And the good Mopar pan gasket 2464 324AC. All in for $60 or so.
Master, again and still
