What types of setups are everyone running? Mainly looking for pics showing fuel line into regulator and fuel lines to carb. My 22 year old braided hose that runs to the fuel pressure regulator sprung a leak and while I am replacing it, I thought I might change my layout.

I use a factory gas tank in my mid 10 sec street car. 1/2"pickup, -8 black nylon braided hose to a Holley return style regulator.
-6 line to the carb, and -8 return line that goes into the stock gas filler tube.
I run 5.5 pounds of fuel pressure and the pump runs quieter and cooler than it did with my previous dead-head setup.

Pump is an Aeromotive Hot Rod polished unit.

ProSport, your engine bay is crazy clean! Do you run your fuel line along the frame rail and up to the regulator from the bottom it looks like?

Make sure and mount your fuel pressure in front of the motor so the high pressure into the regulator is in front of the front needle and seat up Using fuel fittings with bends instead of elbows helps also up

How do you know if you have too much pressure, What are the side effects of too much pressure?

It will run rich and maybe stumble if fuel is dripping while driving from too much pressure, worse case scenario it can flood past the needle and seat and possibly cause a fire.

Take it down to 5.5 pounds and see how it goes.

I always ran my race Holley carbs with 9.5 lbs. with the motor idling with both .090 and .100 needles and seats back in the day shruggy
Make sure the fuel level is not high with motor warmed up also scope

There is no reason in the World to run a carb engine with fuel pressure that high.

I ran mine at 9 - 9 1/2 lbs also, I think that's what the Holley instructions said. Worked great for many years!!

Why not?
I was told by several Mopar backed factory drag racers back then to turn the fuel pressure up a half a pound at a time with the motor running warmed up until the pressure started to lift the needles off of the seat and then back it down 1 pound shruggy
Not all pressure gauges read exactly the same as all other gauges shruggy
On my current car with the bigger .130 and .150 stainless steel needles and seats for my E85 fuel carb. and having the pump mounted between the front mounted fuel tank and the regulator mounted on the front of the motor plate I do run it at 5.5 lbs. now with no issues up work

I use a stock gas tank with a 3/8 sending unit and 3/8 line. I did get a regulator for a return line setup but have not installed it yet since this has been working fine. And I have to put a nipple on my tank or filler neck to install a return line setup. I have my reg set at 6 psi and use the Holley black pump. And it works very good for me. Ron
