All,
I bought one of the driveshaft loops made by Metco Motorsports.
Very nice, quality piece.
So the car is on a rotisserie right now (72 Demon) and I’d like to drill the holes before the bottom is painted.
What I would like to know is how far behind the tail shaft do I mount the loop?
The measurement I need (since there’s no transmission in the car) is how far back from the back of the trans mount do I place it to drill the holes??
I’m going to be using 904 transmission if that makes a difference???
Thanks in advance!!

Wally.

FWIW,has anybody seen an inspector measure the NHRA specified dim other then by eye? work

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

NHRA wants it no more than 6" away from the joint. Never seen it measured, but I've seen what happens when one gets loose at speed. NHRA specs are a minimum. I build them to satisfy me.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Never been inspected either. Just go from the center of the U-joint out approx. 6". Keep it as close to that as possible. Keeps the carnage of an expired U-joint in the car. Don't want to give that driveshaft to much room to bounce around.

My “universal” hoop fit my 2” chromoly shaft ok, but was a bit close to my 3.5” aluminum piece. I sectioned it and welded in 2 pieces to widen it. Hope I never have to test it

Gotcha. Thanks for the replies all.
If anyone has one built to this spec on an A-body, is there a chance I could get a measurement from the back of the trans cross member to the loop?
My Demon is still on a rotisserie and want to drill the holes before paint.

Thank you in advance!
