if injection a leanout valve to build heat in the engine, buy from a reputable company that will get you close on your engine combination,if you live in a cooler climate maybe a gas primer system.keep an eye on the condition of the oil,if you don't race every week you won't like the stuff required to maintain it!

Contact Killer Rons. They have a great rep, many happy racers, excellent at setting up the unit for your motor.
The first thing to know is heat is your friend. Run Klotz fuel lube, 1 qt to a 55 gal barrel. I highly recommend the primer plus system to warm it up on gas, and get to and from the starting line. To warm the motor, you will save money on fuel (methanol) since it takes over a gallon just to warm the motor in my Dart on methanol only, even leaned out. If you warm the motor with the alky, the system needs to be leaned out at idle. I bump the fuel shutoff valve till the exhaust temp climbs to 900+ degrees. I warm the motor with the water pump running till it hits 200 dgrees. That helps warm the oil and keep it clear of alky and water. After several passes my oil looks like it is fresh out of the bottle. Stage and run the motor at 180 to 190 degrees, and let the tempstay way up (200) on the return road if there will be much time between runs, cause you will need to warm it up again for the next pass. Each time you stop the motor on an injected engine, there is a lot of fuel in the injecter lines that will empty into the cylinders if you cut the motor by shutting off the ignition. I close the fuel shutoff, and starve it till it dies. Still, enough fuel is left to drip into the motor for it to run a second, so i start after a minute to burn that fuel, fuel shutoff closed. For storage over night, i do it two or three times to be sure no fuel is left in the cylinders. Methanol can be hard on motors, corroding cylinders if you aren't carefull about clearing the motor.
For long term storage, i fill the tank to the top and cap the vent. Done it that way for 18 years. No problems with corrosion , the Klotz fuel lube seems to be the ticket.
If you spend the money and buy the primer plus, obviously you will make life simpler, for warmup, to and from the burnout box, and shutting the motor down.

If your happy running 9’s and 10’s call APD in Ohio and get a carb. Make provisions for a 1/2 inch ball valve to use if needed for building heat. Before racing get it up to at least 185 degrees and let the block heat soak. Build heat driving back to the pits after your passes. Put an EGT set-up on it so you aren’t rich polluting the oil. I’ve changed my Brad apenn oil once this race season and it still looked great. My small block runs easy 9.40’s with a 850 Holley that APD converted for me.

I think there might only be a tenth or so between injection and a properly sized carb? Most find something. One thing about injected alcohol; for off idle response the idle is set so fat that fuel actually pools on the closed intake valve. Response doesn't get any better than that!
Which ever way you go, there are people happy with that choice. Just seek out the right business to work with, ONE that has a great rep for a good product and customer support.

I've ran alky, but now mostly run C85. A good compromise to me.

Rupert alky carbs are the best I've seen personally, especially on blown stuff.

The beauty of an injector is it's way, way better for your motor if tuned right (obviously). ANY carb goes dead lean, and into detonation on shifts. Even the finest prostock effort carbs. There is no way around it period end of story. An injector isn't subject to fuel flow relative to air flow, like a carb, so no lean on shift condition typically exists.

Alky is more maintenance, and it does get into the oil, but mostly what gets in the oil is water from the temperature differential, and alky drawing water. You'll see when you start up from the last outing your vacuum pump will blow humidity out till it's hot, or after first pass.

A small block with a tiny carb may not pollute the oil very bad. A pair of 1050's with 8, 210 drill size jets will.
