We'll finally after all these years I was able to afford a two-post lift to install in my building. Looking for recommendations on how far to mount it from the workbench. I know a lot of guys are suggesting about 12 to 14 ft from the workbench. What is everyone's recommendations? The biggest vehicle that is going to be on it will be my crew cab dually. It will be going in a 50 foot wide building where is I want to keep the center of it it's open as possible so during the winter time I can store and enclosed trailer and still have access to the back part of the building.

If anybody has a crew cab dually and puts it up on a asymmetric two-post lift can you take a measurement as to how far it extends front of the Post Centerline.

I decided to go with a Nussbaum 10K extra height lift.

Mr P I noticed an earlier post you mentioned about an extra tall lift. What brand did you use?

Thanks for everybody's input in advance

I’ve got a car on my two post right now so I can’t make an exact measurement for you right now. I have a 05 Cummins, four door with a utility bed AND a Tommy Lift on the back. So it is extra long and heavy on the rear. I can give you a measure of how far my lift is located from my bench and the back door of the shop. I can put it on the lift and have room to walk around the rear after I close the door. My best comment right now is I have to pull my truck forward enough to just barely clear the asymmetrical post. I have so much weight on the back, it has to come out that far. My other 2012 four dr long bed does not come that far to get my weight distribution correct. My best guess is there is about an 18” difference in the two trucks. I have plenty of walk room between my bench on both trucks. I can give you the measurements when I get to the shop.

Ok. The most that either one of my trucks stick out past the front of the post is 9’. My cuda on the lift right now sticks out is 6’. Hope that helps.

Mine is a SRW 4 door 8 foot bed, and I've got a symmetrical hoist, so it's not an exact match to your question. The pinch point in my shop is a loft not visible in the pic. Alot of time went into making sure it'd work. I can measure when I get home, if that would help.

Thanks for the reply guys! Space to the rear of the truck isn't an issue...And the cuda is the reason I got the lift.

I just don't want to be sinking holes in fresh concrete and have not have enough room at the front of the truck to work.

So about 12' to the work bench should be good?

Mark is your lift a 10k?

The lift I have now is 12K.. I will buy a new
lift in the spring but a lot lighter... I have
used my lift for my diesel dually but that is
real seldom so its not worth buying one just
for that..I put on cars and jeeps up on the
lift way more.. the only reason I'm gonna get
a new one is I'm sick of banging my head on
this one.. it needs a few more inches of lift
wave

I have 9' from the front of my asymmetric 9k Rotary to the front of my bench. Workbench is 24" deep. I've had all kinds of stuff on it. Plenty of room to work, but I wouldn't want it any closer. I like plenty of elbow room.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Mine is a 10,000 Bendpack and 12’ will be plenty.

Just checked...Mine is only 10', so 12 is definitely going to work fine.

Good post Guys!
Zippy how far are you from the wall?
Do you have enough room to remove the axle?
Matt

The left rear wheel is 5 feet from the wall, so the axle is no problem.

Thx.
So the post closest to the wall looks like 20 to 24 inches away?

I bought an extra tall 14,000 lb 4 post bendpak for servicing my 3500 quad cab dually diesel. Interesting that you are buying a 2 post, truck must be empty? When I took mine into the dealer a few times when it was under warranty, they would asked me to take the weight out of the back to not stress the frame of the truck on their 2 post.
