Xs 16v battery here... owned a rock for about a year, didnt like that the "rock" was more like a pebble for longevity (13 months) I am on my third year with a 16v XS...... the more you spend on a good battery charger the longer the battery will prob last, no you don't need to use the "brands" charger

XS here as well. I have the XS Charger that does 12v and 16v. Going on 5 years with it now. No alternator. Charge between rounds, and charge it again when I get home after a race. P/N XSP-D1600 and the XSP-586 battery posts.
I bought another one when this one had 3 years on it expecting the original to be on it's last leg but it is still working well and the new one is still in the box! I do keep it in the trailer though just in case. Will probably change it out at the end of this season.
I have a 16v to 12v converter for the gauges and some of the accessories, but run the twin fans, electric water pump, interior driver fan and ignition on 16v.

Been using XS batteries for a lot of years with no issues. Ran both prefer the D1600. I have since gone to Lithiums and been very happy. No matter what you use make sure you buy the changer for that battery as well.

XS here. Had a Turbo Start, lasted 3 races across two seasons. Turbo Start was sold during that time and when contacted, the new company could have cared less. My friend had the same conversation with TurboStart yesterday. His light weight 16volt only lasted 3 races too. During the transition, the new owners would not honor the bad batteries. TurboStart said that Jegs and Summit had a lot of inventory and they were not maintained. They did say they would give him a 15% discount off a new one.

Batteries are tricky to keep in inventory because like mentioned above, they need occasional charging to stay good.
I am the GM for an Interstate Distributor, we get panicked calls from time to time from 16V guys needing a battery immediately and that is not something we offer and something that is hard to find in a pinch.
If I had a 16V system I would buy two batteries and rotate them in and out of the car so they both stay fresh and see usage. This way you will have a ready to go spare at anytime.

I did a back to back test many years ago testing both 16 volt and 12 volt batteries in my Daytona and the ET’s were exactly the same. And that was when I was young and dumb and didn’t run an alternator. Love my 12 volt battery and an alternator

We love our 16 Volt batteries and our alternators too, just sayin If you want a performance gain go with Lithium. No real performance there but my car had two 48lb batteries and now has one 7 pound one, so saved 89lbs...
