A lot goes into this but with my car doing 1.25-1.27 sixty foot times I'm set at 1.055-1.065 but everyone car, tire size, and suspension is different. Test n tune is your friend for getting it zero'd in.

What kind of car, weight etc and what amount of power. No matter whats said here you will need to make laps to find what works for you. A lot of factors as you say from car reaction to rollout to the human reaction a ton of factors. FWIW my Cuda was 1.140+- usually the dragster is 1.170+-

Are you switching from leaving on the bottom bulb and going to letting go of the button the top bulb? If so what was your average reaction times on the bottom bulb? It is decent(winning some races) try adding 1.0 and go from there I'm old and slow so I have .985 in my box with tall front tires

Set it at one second and go from there. thats how I started out.

When we were pro tree racing, we would be at a different place every weekend. I would roll some numbers in so it would be real green for time runs/TnT and leave it alone. We were looking for consistency, difference in the lanes, lighting, sun and shade, etc. For first round we would roll numbers back out to try to get the light we wanted, based on that information.
If you go to the same place every week, it should be easy to get a baseline number.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Set it at one second and go from there. you don't have to hit it perfect the first time out, put it at 1 sec make a pass, do the math using your R/T adjust the box accordingly. it is going to take more than one weekend to the thing set

Buy a practice tree. Biondo final round is a nice one. I have a full size practice tree but haven’t used it in years

Doesn't matter what car, et, 60 ft, gear, nothing! Set it at one second and make 4-5 runs, doesn't matter if red or you set there, you're getting a baseline of what you and the car does. Add or subtract the delay to get to an .01 light, then work on consistency. While setting in line, practice letting the button go on the cars lights up ahead of you. I had a practice box hooked up in my car that worked off the delay box, blowed everyone's mind. I would do it ten times in a row, wait a little then do over. A lot of double 0s

I'm 65 and bottom bulb race. Adjust the car to you, not you to the car. Just react and then there are lot's of ways to get the car to react faster or slower to get your rt to where you want it. Mike
