Going to put A 6.4 for into my 92 Ramcharger for an everyday ride. Wanting to keep the factory computer for decent mileage, using Hotwire Auto for the factory computer.
A few questions: Which would be the best choice for buying a junkyard motor.? I know the Challenger has the lower alternator Mount and the truck is higher. I would like the extra HP of the challenger but I know that the frame needs notched when using the challenger accessory drive.
When it comes down to actual money which is the best buy? Can I buy the truck motor for a little less money and get the front accessory drives still put a challenger cam in it to get the horsepower. Or just buy the Challenger take out and buy a truck front drive?
Any suggestions on where to buy the 2014 and up take out truck Motors?
Thanks V10

truck 6.4, cam it , leave it alone up to you , use the truck exhaust manifolds....avoid headers unless you really , really , really need to have headers...trust me on this. Engine mounts are simple to weld up. Power steering will be the only issue.
4x4 or 2x4 ?

It's a 4x4,and I am going to keep the 518 transmission. I agree with the exhaust manifolds I've only had one pair of headers that didn't leak.
I just figured the extra 75 or 80 horsepower from the Challenger motor might be a little bit more fun Factor. Just trying to sort out the whole front accessory Drive to make it work in the Ramcharger frame rails. Have you done this swap already? What is the issue with the power steering? Just turning down the pressure?

BGE block is used in hellcats and 6.4 trucks only, it is the best production block. Not very far behind is the car 6.4 block.
The BGE has its own heads, the best production ones for NA engines. You can use the car 6.4 cam for a nice bump in HP but you will still have less compression than the car 6.4 and will probably be fine to run whatever gasoline you wish, even 85 octane should be fine with the big cam and lower compression.
Supposedly the truck has a better intake than the car because of hood height restrictions, I still have yet to see a direct test between the two either on the dyno or track.
Bottom line put a good dual exhaust on it and the car/apache/SRT 6.4 cam ($68 from the dealer last one I bought) and it should be very close in power to the car 6.4.

ignore my power steering comment, I had 5.7 1500 donor on the brain. Yes I've done a few G3 old dodge truck swaps all 4x2s so far, so I don't know how this will translate over to 4x4 , one thing you'll have to keep in mind is the G3 Hemis are wider than a 440 , I think it's an inch , On a 4x2 ,the P-side valve cover will be about an Inch from the AC/Heater box....so no changing valve cover gaskets if they leak. and the Driver side gets cozy with the older brake booster. Cam ,speed logix still has them for $66, I've heard some local dealers want as much as 10% off MSRP http://www.speedlogixstore.com/product-p/m-oem-392c.htmIf your donor 6.4 doesn't have the oil filter adaptor......get it. Not a 4x4 but it's being done yet this year(hopefully) https://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/2479248/ramcharger.html#Post2479248BGE Vs SRT the guys above me already went through the difference's BUT if you ever want to go Big time boosted, leave the SRT392/Apache heads to some one else, the BGE and Hellcat head is the one for boost.
