Does anyone know if the Mopar Perf. Engine paint is going to be available soon? The one I'm looking for is the "Street Hemi Orange".

Jeff, on a side note (fwiw) the "race hemi orange" looked much closer to some OE orange valve covers I had & the "street hemi orange" had a weird reddish tint, not even close, but this was 20 yrs ago.

My engine is half painted and I need two more cans. Seems like everyone has been out of stock for awhile now.

The Race Hemi Orange is a yellower/browner shade, also used on Maxies.
I've seen 2 other Hemi Oranges, and IIRC Scott Smith knows the applications; one is pretty reddish.

Unless something has changed the Mopar paint is so off color it's unusable. Try Totally Auto. Expensive, but you're driving a Mopar so you're used to it.

Since you're using rattle can paint, you're basically stuck with that. If you can't find any more spray cans and use a spray gun call Frank Balason for the correct shade.

Hirsch will mix in quart or aerosol can. I have never used his paint but I have always heard positive reviews of it and the color is supposed to be accurate.

That Mopar performance paint was the thinnest, most non covering junk I have ever used. Not to mention the color being wrong. Just repaint with something else. Plasticoat is good. Much better than Mopar junk.

I stopped buying it as the colors were not the same can to can. You had to use one can to do the final top coat on all the parts, or you weren't going to like the final results.

Yes Neil, I had that problem on the last engine I painted "Race Hemi Orange". I used some paint from Jegs and some from Mancini.
I like to paint everything separate, though not correct as bomb painting a completed engine, I feel it turns out nicer.
I was thinking like you suggested as I still have about a can and a half left, all with the same lot number. Would like to pick up 2 more cans and top coat it with what I have left.
