I assume stock appearing engine and body with interior etc. Can u have lexan windows or does it require stock windows. What about OTHER body panels do they have to be steel or can they be fiberglass as long as it looks original? Asking for another person who wants to play.

I wish NSS would open up the years of cars available to run. Personally it should be to 1969, as ProStock took over in 1970. It's kinda of a odd thing IMO, a 69 Dart can run with a 440 and 2x4's, but a 68 HEMI Road Runner can't. One was actually a production made car.
As for Victory, wasn't much of a fan when they told a buddy he couldn't be running other classes other then the Victory deal, as it would give him a unfair advantage. If you tow 500+ miles, and your car fits into multiple classes for the weekend, you should be able to race whatever you want.

Sometimes the rules loosen up just for the purpose of attracting more cars into the group. Nostalgia super stockers that are 100 per cent correct don't exactly grow on trees. Check out the organizations where you think you might want to participate and get familiar with their rules. If you fit, join one. It's a great way to race!

I do not understand why the 68 or 69 B bodies are not allowed. You could have a Hemi Car or a 440 6 pack car. But other makes are allowed to run 69 models. I hate to say it, but I believe the organizers are afraid the Mopars would take over. But then I would think they would want more cars to attend.

Funny story from 60 years ago? The NHRA is setting up the mfg. advertised power/weight ratios to break the classes. They all look like 14.00-14.99, or 12.50-12.99 (full second or half second interval), except one, which is (IIRC) 12.69? Why? Two buddies on the committee had the same SBC engine, same year, but one had a post car and one had a hardtop. They split the weight break so they didn't have to race each other and each could get a trophy.

The NMCA N/SS rules have been pretty much the same for years. No, Camaros, Mustangs, , small blocks, 68 & up full size, etc. It is what it is. Just like any other class. If you want to run in it, build a car that fits. That being said there are plenty of Stock, S/S, N/SS races that will accept a "close" bracket car. There is no engine tear down. But it just like N/SS you need to have a correct appearing factory carb. No Holley DP or Dominators, Factory style interior, no tin. Doug

So, as usual, the word "stock" is a loose interpretation.

I think my comment has been misconstrued. When I stated about rules being changed to fit cars, I am talking about the groups that were started outside of the large groups to fit certain types/styles of cars that were not necessarily accepted under the common NMCA rules. I guess it's more of an East Coast thing. There's a few groups in the Mid-Atlantic region where the rules are catered around the organizer's vehicles. It would seem counter productive to start a new series or class, that your car doesn't fit in.

If your starting from scratch, I would build it to NMCA Rules... ONLY because you will be legal no matter where you go. Personally I don't agree with the fact they don't allow E Bodies, Camaro's and Mustangs from the late 60's early 70's.... BUT that's another discussion for another time. To make a slight correction here, NMCA allows single 4 on some cars, Victory has to have multiple carbs. Also, NMCA rules change on carb types when you dip into the nine's. Victory rules stay the same no matter the index. Also, some of these rules originated in the '80's. Some rules haven't changed since then.

Which rules should you build to if you live in n.e. Ohio? What tracks use which rules? How many races are there per year within a reasonable distance? Do any tracks have a regular nss race or are they all once a year special events?
Thanks

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.
