this is what I posted about a while ago. I waited for summer blend and its definitely better but still does it. I found some non ethanol gas and it pretty much quit but it was only 89 octane. I actually just cut out the bottom of the scoop to see if I can get the heat out from under the hood better.

Put some type of plastic or wood spacer between the carb and the intake to help with the fuel boiling, especially if your 4 hole/tapered spacers are made out of aluminum.

I have a wood 4 hole i will try. currently using a wilson aluminum taper spacer. I havent looked yet but is there a carb/heat shield available to block all that heat coming off the fan?

I've been looking at them I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Not sure if that shield would help as i think i have more heat coming off the fan than the engine blowing directly on the pri bowl. May have to try one to see if it helps or not. ill try the wood spacer first.

One of my old used race cars came with a carb heat deflector made out of sheet of aluminum, the former owner, (9 second Phil) was in the U.S. Air Force at the time doing aircraft maintenance so he made it out I think around .073 to .095? sheet aluminum cut it out the square under the carb. to match the intake manifold and bent the front edge up about three inches in front of the front fuel bowl , he also drilled a hole in the driver side of the bent up lip and used it as the throttle return spring hole up
Lots of ways to skin the kitty wrench

This kind of thing will test your imagination as it did mine over 20 yrs ago. There are many ways to help your problem and depends on what you are willing to do.Would you post a pic of the engine and hood?

I think you could make something to integrate with the filter base plate and pull on/off with it and clear lines, links.

Just going to throw this out there,If you make a 3 sided shield that will slide over the carb and be held in by the injection bung on the intake and by the base plate and the material could be silver backed foam or just aluminum.

Not sure I like that flex fan I see in the pick, looks nice but can be dangerous on a 6000 rpmm plus car. they've been know to break apart and lose a blade.

on mine I don't think the problem is heat from the intake. I think its just the heat under the hood from headers and radiator. when mine starts acting up I could pop the hood and use a laser temp and the intake was only around 150. the engine was 170. but the carburetor and air cleaner was over 180. from what I read ethanol boils at 174 degrees

Thanks for confirming my suspicion with the ethenol in the pump gas. All the heat from the radiator is blown right at the carb. Using a drop base air cleaner is no help either. I did install the wood carb spacer todat, but i dont expect much improvement with that alone. Searching for material to make a shield.

Like said, shouldn't pull fuel at idle. There are anti pull fuel squirters.
