Just because it fits (pulleys) does not mean it works. Bouchillon performance (randy) still thinks that you can run 440 (non ac) water pump pulley with stock two grove crank pulley (thin damper) on a street 1970 hemi. I am 100% convinced that the ratio does not allow water movement at idle. I have spent thousands of $$$ with moparts sponsors, but at some point when you sell a product that doesnt work you should stand behind it or at least not sell it anymore for the above application. (that includes 440-source) So I am still looking for a water pump pulley (non a.c big block) with 5.5 diameter that would work for my setup.

as pulley offsets are something you need to take into consideration, perhaps, and this is a REAL stretch, you may be able to look at some GM pulleys, then use thin spacers to align the belts ? just throwing something out there. i have seen a ton of SBC pulleys with duel bolt patterns, but watch the center hole size, as there are several, ranging from 5/8" to 3/4" or larger.

I linked you to a 5.5" pulley.

That is the size you say you need.

What are you waiting for?

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

The pulley that was linked is a a/c pulley and I donot think it will work with a 2 grove crank pulley. If I go with that pulley I will have to add a 4 grove crank pulley.

That is correct. But if you can find an A/c pulley and the 4 groove lower pulley for cheap it would be a good way to test out your theory before dropping the big coin on $HEMI$ specific parts ??? ...

running up my post count some more .

Thanks for the help. I was able to find an a/c big block water pump pulley two grove that I added with a 4 grove crank pulley. I rerouted the belts and problem fixed. It did not go a hair over 180. Lesson learned. Hopefully, this posts helps others in the future. Thanks.

what diameters did you end up with (crank/wp)?

The trick was the four grove crank pulley which is bigger dia 7inch combined with a 2 groove stock a/c pulley O.D. 5 7/8. I think part of my problem is the 440 source Double Groove Crank Pulley is 1/2 inch smaller in the inner grove than the stock pulley. I guess that 1/2 inch difference made a 10-15 percent difference in rpm rotation.

I have used all stock 440 pulleys & water pumps on my hemi's on the street with no issues in the past. With everything you have changed/replaced & still having issue I am thinking it may be an intake leak/vacuum leak making it run lean or timing issues possibly?

Are you running single or double grove water pump pulley? Are the repro units from 440 source ?
