I got some more time in on the 9.25 the past couple days.
I opened it up last night and was pleasantly surprised that the only slop is in the axles- a tiny bit side to side and a little bit of axle play in the splines. Seems normal- I’ll look at the wear on the axles when they come out. I still have to measure endplay and inch pounds on the rotation but it feels tight, smooth, and the wear looks ok. I scraped, brushed, degreased, power washed, re-scraped, power wire brushed, brakleened, and POR15’d the housing so it’ll be clean and easy to work on. Jeez it’s hot today!
I got axle and pinion seals coming from rockauto and a yukon crush sleeve eliminator kit coming from amazon. I guess I’ll start with the same size as the crushed oem sleeve and measure from there. I was entertaining the idea of trying to replicate the pinion nut position and inch pounds needed to turn it and leaving the existing sleeve but that might not be the best idea behind 600 ft/lbs.

With 600 ft/lbs odds are, even if you put the crush sleeve in perfectly, it would further crush the sleeve and destroy the rear axle. That is exactly why crush sleeve eliminators were thought up.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.
