I'm in need of a new torque converter. Currently drag racing a 360 with a 904 TF. It's a footbrake car that runs 12.00. I do not know the specifics of the converter, but I set the RPMs at 2500 while staging, and the car will creep through the brakes around 2800 or so. I'm guessing it's a 3000 stall. I pulled the converter and it has stampings of "9016" and "432". It is a 10". I'm looking for any suggestions on a torque converter that would be comparable. I do not want to go faster, because I run two classes and need to be in the 12.00 range. Thanks in advance!

Its probably higher than 3k stall if you can stage it at 2500.
A convertor is pretty much a convertor.
Send it out to any competant shop and have it freshened up if thats what it needs
If your running what you want to run with it doesnt seem like you need a new one.

I went from a new 10" converter to a new Dynamic 9.5". With no other changes, the car picked up .5 and almost 5MPH! Different combo, but big difference in the two. The 9.5" is actually a bit tighter. It drives very nicely on the street for a low-11 second car. It gets driven everywhere...except the highway. I run 4.30 gears!

Best bet is to speak to a converter company. They'll want to know all the specs of your car. If they don't, find another shop.

When I got my 358"/904 Duster in '94, it had a TurboAction 4400 converter in it. I'm a footbrake guy, stage at 2200-2500 & flash @ WOT on the leave. Car was very consistent 11.40 - 11.44, shifting @ 7500. Your combo may be quite different, but you can shift earlier to bleed off ET.
In fact, 1st 2 passes in the car, the secondaries wouldn't open (simple throttle cable maladjustment); so as a 2-barrel 750DP, it ran 12.80 twice. 3rd pass - as a 4-barrel - was 11.80.
