I have one running in my Challenger since 2005. Dialing the cam can be a head scratcher but performance has been excellent! Dave,... what is the difficulty in cam dialing? Is it tough/difficult to install the cam from the get-go? Lack of geometry gradations/lines, no dots or markings similar to Cloyes?

I've used all three brands of the better 3 gear BB-426 hemi gear drives, Milidon, KB and Donovan. I don't remember the Milidon part number though None of them had any dots on them so dialing in the cam was not as easy as starting with aligning the dots I start off with the cam pin located about where 4.00 O clock is on a clock face with #1 piston at TDC and went from there, I mark the crank and cam gear by a tooth with a etching pin tool also before starting , make sure and write everything down so you know which way to move the cam gear on the cam hub to get the LSA where you want it also

I hate to admit the problems I have degreeing in an adjustable timing chain because it would make me look dumb. But with a gear drive following Milodon's instructions it's monkey simple. You just set the cam where it says and slide the gear on. As the commercial says, it's so easy a cave man could do it. The only thing I don't like is all the Milodons I've had used 5/16" dowel pins. This is a hassle. KB used to sell 1/4"-5/16 dowel pins to make this easy but now they're gone...

Do you still need a thrust button when using a gear drive or is it already pinned in place? I still use the white nylon

Thanks, hemi-it is. Not sure what I am going to use on my new motor. A Jesel belt drive would be nice, but so expensive. I was always under the impression that a gear drive is too hard on the valve train, but more and more, I hear that was just an old wife's tale.

Do you still need a thrust button when using a gear drive or is it already pinned in place? On my Milodon gear drive the cam thrust button is made on the cam gear cover and on the cam adapter hub. I just installed a new Milodon gear drive on a customers engine and it's still made that way. It also comes with a Torrington thrust bearing that fits between the block and the cam adaptor. Brian

I was always under the impression that a gear drive is too hard on the valve train, but more and more, I hear that was just an old wife's tale. I remember hearing the same noise about gear drives years ago, probably invented by some hater that couldn't afford one AKA aside, one point was the lash on the gears was the possible problem by causing "harmonics" in the valve train Me thinks weak valve springs where the problem all along, not the lash
