Anyone know off the top of their head the socket size needed for the front crank bold on 5.9 magnum? (1998 Ram)

It appears that during my 2 yrs of being laid up, that the truck motor may have froze up. No sign of water/antifreeze in oil, but not sure if the rings froze to the walls, or the starter is just frozen. It clicks, but no attempt to turnover what so ever... even with a good battery & fresh charge out of my Challenger. Sprayed some wd40 in the cylinders and let it soak a day or two; no change.

I need to move the truck to get some tree's taken down and now it's dead (figures) and to make matters worse I have a boat still attached to it. Trying to avoid dragging the whole shooting match out of the woods (between trees) with my 2500. (likely nothing good will come of that) whistling

So I figured before I go out with a handful of sockets, and risk dropping one in the mud under it... I'd ask here 1st, so I can take the correct one up in the woods right off the bat. Hopefully the crank will turn with a breaker bar & it's just a dead/froze/rusted starter. (fingers crossed)

Thanks
R

Starter on my magnum engine was doing that. It wound up being cracked in half. Only way it would crank was with battery chrger set on boost.

Thanks thumbs

Wasn't sure if they went metric...
Truck was pretty much trouble free up until it just sat.

I've never seen an engine not exposed to water seize up....I bet it's starter related.

Take care,

Yeah... once I had the plugs out I probably should have just grabbed a pulley and tried to see if it would turn by hand right then & there... After trekking back up in the woods with a breaker bar & 1 1/4 socket in hand, I found I could easily spin it over by just grabbing the belts... rolleyes whistle

Starter probably rusted fast inside... tried beating it with a trusty bfh for S&G to see if it would shake loose... but no go. So sprayed some dw40 all over the general starter bolt area; not ideal access from above. Bolts are really rusted... should be fun. frown Oh well.

So its off to the bone yard to find a starter... and then as soon as it stops raining/snowing long enough for the ground to dry, I'll crawl under and see I can get the pig out. Going to have to go on a quick diet too... there's no jacking it up out where it is... I can raise the body up a little... but the earth is way too soft/mole infested to try and safely lift it off the ground.
