Alright, finally have my car in the shop at my house and have it on jack stands to install the disc brakes. Car is a 66 Fury II, I'm putting the spindles and disc brakes off a 73 New Yorker on it. Does someone have a diagram, or a picture of how the spring goes on? When I took the brakes off, the spring was rusted and fell to bits. I took these off about two years ago, so my memory is a little fuzzy.

I think I found the answer. It's the anti rattle spring that goes on the outside of the caliper and wraps around the bolts.

Can you put up a picture? If they are like the B/E bodies calipers, you don't need that spring, or the splash plate.

These are the springs I'm talking about. The disc brakes I have are different from the ones posted by Mr. Tom. I have the fixed calipers, I believe thats what they are called. Have two bolts that hold the caliper on.

Yes, there is the pin type and slider type calipers with different type/shaped anti-rattle springs. I don't know which year cars had which design. I've had both, but forget which on which car.

You don't need those springs, or the things that center the pads, or the slash shields. Those are the same as 71/2 B body, and 70/74 E body.

Here is a pic with them installed. As 71Bird said they are not necessary and the brakes will work fine without them.

Ok, thank yall. I guess I'll go ahead and remove the splash shields if they are not needed.

a lot of new stuff, for many years, have had the splash shield removed per OEM. in my opinion, removing these are an extra cooling option that costs nothing, and should be done on all but total restorations.

I'm glad ya'll told me, because I sure would have left it on there. I took off Friday, so I have plans to light the grill for a few butts, pack the cooler with a 6 pack, and get to work on installing these brakes. I also get to take out exhaust manifold studs and put some liquid teflon on them, because I have one leaking antifreeze onto the manifold.

Thanks again, don't think I would have every gotten this far with the car without ya'll.

Here's a pic of the slider type calipers. This setup is from a '76 Dart and uses Dodge Monaco rotors and it's mounted on my '64 Polara.
