I bought a used set of shocks described as "original off an AAR cuda" off eBay years ago cheap and was happy to find the rears were 3400854s which are the correct part numbers for AAR/TA/hemi and V codes. The part number is stamped around the lower tube near the mount. I just crawled under my car but couldn't make out much under the repaint except 00854. On one side of one shock it said 11 G9 or 69, date code?
The fronts I got in that used set are 2200832 which isn't the part number listed in the references for AAR/TAs. However, I have the front shocks that were on my T/A when I first bought it in '78, and they have the same part number leading me to believe they are the originals. They also say ORIFLOW and MADE IN USA.
I have a pair of NOS 3400849s here which are correct for 383 cars IIRC and they have the part number, ORIFLOW, and MADE IN USA on them. Also 8A9 after the made in USA on the 849s.
I got NOS correct # fronts for my T/A but couldn't make out anything on them installed right now. But as previously mentioned, I suspect the car originally had 2200832 fronts, not what's listed as original equipment.
