So I just painted my duster black base clear and was looking for the best method to sanding and buffing the clear after. I just sanded the whole car with 1500. Should I now go over the car with 2000 to make it real easy to buff out. And what are you guys using for pads and compound to buff out a black car. I buffed out a small spot with some light cut compound and WOW I cant wait to see this thing all done. The wedge blacked out hood treatment should look real nice against the gloss black, and I cant wait to add all the decals.

No different that buffing clear over any other color--other than imperfections will be more visable.
Different clears buff differently. Even different hardeners affect how the clear buffs, as does the buffing pad and compound used. A lot of other variables at work here. You can buff after 1500 grit--try it, if you get desired results theres your answer. Try 2000 in an area too.

Here is a link to a video I made of color sanding a black car. I realize it is a corvette but it should help you with your project regardless.

I usually start with 2000, especially on a dark color, then use 3M's Finesse-It, foam pads, then a carnauba wax with no cleaner. Tape off sharp edges, vent openings & such. Wash the car several times during the process.
If the goal is to reproduce the factory paint texture, just nibbing any dirt and polishing works.
It's a very methodical process, if you want consistent texture everywhere on the car.
Also make sure you bounce light off the car to check for fine scratches & swirls as you go.
