She likes it! So maybe I'll paint it blue.

If you go blue, how 'bout the mid 90s patriot blue?
Then again, that's not the original color of your truck or the donor...
I thought she only cared that it be one color?
Good read, and way to stick with a long-term project!

Hmmm...Patriot Blue? That might work. I'm probably not going to paint the truck its original color anyway.

How's this: Patriot Blue (or close to it).

Or, here is a mockup (poor, nonetheless) of what my truck would look like in Atlantic Blue Pearlcoat. (I modified a stepside picture.)

Let's try something. I'd like the opinion of whoever reads this thread. What should I paint the truck?

What color should I paint my truck?

I voted Other, and it says "Specify", so here goes. In the early 80's a guy at our church bought a "Prospector" I believe it was called. It was a metallic black below the belt and up top, including the top couple inches of the box (typical 80's/90's breakup on the dog trucks) with a really nice metallic gold in the middle. I have not seen a combo I liked better...

Black on gold, you say? I haven't thought about that one. Thanks for the input. I may try to crank out a pic...

Well...I like it. I've thought seriously about how to go about painting that. It would solve some problems, actually. For example, my current bed has holes where the upper trim was located. If I went with an upper trim piece, those would be completely covered up. It would also coordinate with the black zero rust that I'm going to paint the underside of the cab and bed.

My wife...no. She almost shrieked when she saw it. She really doesn't like the two-tone paint schemes of the Dodge trucks, but for the life of me I can't figure out why.

We've been a bit slow at work (cold weather more than anything), so I've had a chance to begin the paint removal/prep work. As stated earlier, my goal will be to repair the rot, prep the other pitted/rust 'challenged' surfaces (such as the cowl drain/wiper linkage area) for Zero Rust, and primer/paint the entire cab.

The cowl/windshield area is nicely free of rot.

The entire upper cowl is nice.

There was one surprise. Where the firewall drip rail meets the inner cowl drain, the debris caused a rust through. This also opens into the cab, so I'll have to repair it to prevent a leak. Still, minimal damage at this point.

I've discovered that I placed my Power Wagon emblem in the center of the birdbath depression. While looking back through my original pictures of the truck, I noticed that the emblem was actually at the rear of the depression. I didn't know there was a difference in placement but evidently there is. Here are pictures from 1973, 1974, and 1975 for comparison. Perhaps this was just arbitrary?

Got any pics or examples of that color? I'd like to see it.
