I have 2 of the shims that came with the bell on mine. First off let me say I have a Powerglide with the JW Bell housing on it.I had a starter in the shop off a 99 Dakota that had the 5.2 engine in it and with 4 shims the teeth on the starter is still touching the flywheel.Wanted to see what other people are running before I went I bought one..

[quote=Dave Hall]I made a plate the thickness of the shim I needed to bolt the starter up to the bell. It looks like the mounting face of the starter. JW makes an extension for the nose or you could have them both made. [/quote
Summit sells a shim and nose piece kit. ]
