Any recommendations on who has the best for a 400 block. Has anyone used the ones from 440 source?

I can't say who's are "best",
but I am using the ones from Best Machine and I am happy with them.

There are lots of good products out there but few that need little work to install. What you want to keep in mind is is the cap ready to install or will it need a ton of work before and once installed. Here is what to look for Is the cap ready to install on the face or do they have to be cut on a cap cutter. Mine don't as they are ready to install. Next are the caps ready to install as far as the register go or do they have to be machine to fit. Mine don't as they are ready to install. Last is the thrust bearing width are they machine to fit or do the caps have to be machines to fit. Mine don't they are ready to go as they are pre-machined to fit.Mine only require a line bore and hone. Otherwise you could be looking at an extra $100 -$200 in machining. Quality pays off in the end but you pay for it up front. I have a special going right now as well free shipping if you mention it in the order. Thanks---Greg

Them BCR caps are a good buy. Once you check out the cost of materials (7075)you'll have to agree. The overseas caps are actually cheaper than the raw materials alone sold here in the states...if you want to take the chance that the overseas material quality (and fitment) is just as good quality, go for it.

The Best Machine caps are made right here in the USA.If I am not mistaken they are made with a different grade of aluminum than other manufactures. This was for superior strength and malleability, not to mention the awesome machine work. Chris

I was wondering how that beast was holding up. I must say you are the prime example of how this set up can help the guy who just needs the extra bit of security that the regular guys cant offer.

Thanks Greg

It sounds like you get what you pay for and cheap is not better.
