Yeaterday I watched a new episode of restoration garage on velocity.A guy in Canada had seven different colored 1970 superbirds!Unbeliveable and they let a mopar crazy mechanic from THE GUILD,restoration shop, drive a yellow,4spd bird!Very cool lucky guy!They had great pics/documentation on all the cars.There was also a black Daytona there as well.

The absolute BEST car-related show on TV!
It's an actual working, world-class restoration shop, with real workers, real info and real owners. Very little scripted garbage and very little of the ridiculous drama that is found on most other car shows.
Some of the cars featured are breathtaking.

It is one of the best. So is Dan Shorts shop but they all make mistakes no one is perfect.

That collection was so nice as was the building. Would love to have that setup.
I like that show. The owner guy is a little odd, dresses like Austin Powers. Very demanding guy, which I respect.

I noticed all the birds had chrome mirrors except the one that was driven. That one had color matching (yellow) racing mirrors. Were racing mirrors an option? I don't think I've ever seen a photo of one with them.

Yeah they didn't mention or show any birds with hemis.The petty blue one did have a 440 6brl.They said it was rare because it was all original,paint etc....

I believe that the painted racing mirrors were not available until March of 1970. The Superbirds had to be built by January of 1970 or they would not pass the newly imposed bumper impact standards. That is probably why you have never seen another Superbird with them. I would say that they were added when the car was restored. I put them on all my 70 Chargers. I think they look great!

The yellow one they drove also had road wheels which I don't think were available on superbirds?

I believe that the road wheels were available on Superbirds. I think Tony's survivor Superbird had them, IIRC

there were NO wheel/tire restrictions for Superbirds

I think it was mentioned during the show that those cars were collected specifically to get one of each color and that all the cars were well documented, numbers matching, low miles cars. No doubt a collection that's worth big bucks.

I didn't know you could get any tire/wheel combinations cool.

Yes, a guy in a similar occupation to mine, has some serious coin, and is an old an modern Mopar fanatic. He recently bought a yellow Superbird, and while chatting with the seller, the seller offered a second one at about 20 percent lower than value, if he bought it today. He took it. Recently bought a 69 Hemi runner in the 50's because the owner needed cash.

It would be nice to be in a position to take advantage of good buys.

Have to love the rimblow wheel on the Petty blue bird. I think that I have only seen one other ‘bird with that option. Probably others but unusual.
