I see it's a 71-74. But why is the power steering pump at the top like that? Was told it's from an old cop car. Is it worth anything. Only issue is timing chain, needs replaced. I'm guessing it's out of a motorhome and that is why the PS pump is so high up.

The 496 last three digits of the casting number mean it's a 1971 - 1974 block and should have thick cylinder walls that can be safely bored to 4.070. Otherwise everything else is same as any passenger car or truck.
I'd say it's worth about another $100 over a later 360. There were no 360s in 1996, theyhad morphed into 5.9 Magnums.
Heavy duty engines sometimes had exhaust valve rotators or exhaust valves with sodium filled stems.

My '75 Snow Commander truck had the power steering pump mounted there. The plow pump was mounted under it right where the steering pumps are normally put.
I love the smell of Deer guts in the morning, it smells like... VICTORY!
