Does anyone have a picture they can share of a 70 B-body engine compartment w/440 and a non A/C firewall? I just dropped the engine in my GTX last week and it doesn't look right to me. It looks too high. My oil pan doesn't go down flush with the bottom of the K-member like I'm used to and the front of the pan seems like there is too much clearance to the K also. I got this car sans drivetrain, and this is the first time I've seen it with an engine/trans. Any help here would be appreciated. Travis..

That one may be helpful. I would like to be able to use engine and engine bay features to get an idea of placement. A measurement from the top of the k-member to the oil pan rail of the timing cover could be good too. Travis..

is your tranny in? a level from the inner fender (vin tag) across to engine stamp pad 4 3/8",engine block to firewall from lower valve cover bolt area 2"pass. 2 3/4 driver
With a straight edge side to side on the inner fenders (near fender tag), I've got 4 1/4" to the id pad, and the firewall measurement to rear valve cover bolts seem spot on as well. I measured from the top of the K-member to the oil pan rail near the balancer, it was 2 3/4". My original concerns were that the oil pan is about 1/2" above the bottom of the K-member (1" if you factor in the skid plate), and the breather on the right valve cover is directly in front of the heater hose connections on the firewall. I looked and figured out part of my problem with the breather, on M/Ts it is farther back on the valve cover than the stock tin cover. So I'm gonna go back to tin for that. The oil pan, I dunno. It is the one stamped 402, which is supposed to be the 6 qt pan? It has a large sump area, but is only about 4 1/2" deep. Seems kinda shallow to me? Like I said, this is the first time I've had an engine in this car so it is kinda strange looking. I just want to be certain it is where it needs to be before I start messing with exhaust, clutch linkage etc. I only want to do this stuff once if I can help it Travis..
