I recently bought a 71 RR with a 415 stroker motor and dual quads. The guts of the Air Grabber were removed to make room for the 415 Stroker. The hood has a large composite piece that bolts to the hood with about 20 screws. Most of these screws have come out and the mounting posts are decaying. I'm trying to figure out how to secure the composite piece to the hood. Any ideas?

That's molded fiberglass, you might try building it back up with 2 part epoxy. See if you can get ahold of Dayclonea, he may have experience fixing that. That part is reproduced, but the quality may not be any good.

Thanks. I was able to find Dayclona and sent him a message. Can you recommend a 2 part epoxy?

Epoxy should work fine, but you could also use fiberglass resin & only use the glass mat where (if) you need it.

I've been wondering, these things are 40+ years old, and the fiber glass is dried up on them, is it a good idea to run down the highway with the scoop open at 70/80 mph and the wind pressure working on them. Just thinking out loud.

factory ones are not fiberglass - they are the same material as SHAKER bubbles, Coronet side scoops, Charger door scoops, etc.

They are molded glass, just like the rear louvers, right? The point is, should we trust that the bolted on part couldn't break and come off the hood.
